You've written the Great American Novel or the next best-selling work of non-fiction, and now you are ready to get it published. All your friends and relatives read the manuscript and said they love it. You wrote a book proposal and searched out agents and publishers who might be the right ones for your genre. You wrote your query letter and sent it off with high hopes . . . and then you learned the harsh truth: unless you have a "platform" of at least 40,000 (meaning the number of people who follow you on social media, or attend your lectures and workshops, or bought your last book), no one wants your magnificent opus. Welcome to the wonderful world of publishing today as it goes through its changes to meet the demands of our digital age, much the way the music industry and now the film and television industry have had to readjust their own realities.
What can you do? Self-publish. Self-publishing is no longer a dirty word. It no longer refers to "vanity" presses. Many top authors have started to self-publish their latest books because they keep more of the profits. You won't look bad by self-publishing, and if your book gets enough traction out there, a traditional publisher just might contact you.
Self-publishing has gone through its own changes thanks to the advent of POD (print on demand). It no longer costs a small fortune for you to get your book published, and by hooking up with the right company, you'll get a well-edited and well-designed book interior with a striking cover.
That's where SitaRam Press comes in. We can shepherd you through the process. We are not a traditional publisher. We are not going to give you an advance. We are not going to market your book (although we can put you in contact with top-notch people who can help do that). We are simply here to help authors get on the simplest and most cost-effective path to self-publishing. And, if you want, your book can come out under the auspices of SitaRam Press.
SitaRam Press is an affiliate of GPIW.
Here are some of the books we have helped with . . . that Parvati has edited.
